LOW BACK PAIN REHABILITATION

 

This is a three day course incorporating

  1. knowledge of the anatomy, biomechanics, ergonomics of the spine to avoid further damage to the spine.

  2. stretching and mobility exercises to regain flexibility:

  3. improving tone of postural muscles which are responsible for protecting the spine.

  4. two treatments for each participant, to ensure exercises taught suit the individuals problems.

  5. time will be available to enjoy the North Antrim Coast.

 

Lecturer:  Alice Trufelli BSC MCSP.  I am a state registered physiotherapist, specializing in spinal and musculo-skeletal problems.  I am  in private practice. I  wish to address health issues, such as exercises for ospeoporosis, back pain, diabetes, overweight and lack of fitness, which all can be helped or prevented.    

 

1.   exercise by walking in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

2.   exercise programmes to continue at home with a minimum of equipment:

            - exercising muscles helps you feel good:

            - lose inches:

            - good muscle tone  prevents injuries;

            - working muscles uses up more calories.

3.   an insight into nutrition:-  what foods to eat while dieting, which will make you healthy, and make you feel satisfied, not hungry

4.   demonstrations of vegetarian cooking to help you increase your fruit and vegetable intake at home; this will help detoxify, decrease your chances of contracting cancer, improve your complexion, help you lose weight, improve your feel good factor. 

5.   yoga;  simple yoga exercises will be taught to help maintain or regain flexibility.  Stiffness and lack of flexibility is one of the main causes of musculoskeletal injuries

6.   table toners;- toning muscles the easy way by using table toners.

7.   optional beauty therapy (facial, massage).

 

Course Content

 Day 1:

  • Arrival and introduction to other participants.

  • Evening Meal.

  • Lecture on the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine.

  • Discussion on individuals back problems (related to information on the questionnaire
    each returned on applying).

  • Examination of each patient.

 Day 2:

  • Breakfast.

  • Exercises;  Stretching exercises

  • Ergonomics.

  • Treatments and free time.

  • Lunch.

  • Exercises to improve muscle tone.

  • Treatments and free time

  • Evening Meal.

  • Local Stories/History of the Area.

 Day 3:

  • Breakfast

  • Recap on anatomy and ergonomics

  • Recap on stretching and strengthening exercises.

  • Treatments / free time

 

Course Cost

Price of  3 Day Course is £TBA, based on sharing twin rooms. 

Single supplement: £TBA.

Extra night B&B will be at reduced rate of £TBA.

Cost for non-participating partner: £TBA.

Historical guided tours can be organized for spare time (for an extra fee).
